Excel 2013 closed but still running in Task Manager

$

Hi all,

We have 32 bit Office 2013 running under 64 bit Windows 10 Pro.

For years now we have had a problem with Excel closing but actually quitting it is still running in Task Manager and preventing opening of any other Excel window. Researching this it is an old problem and continues even under 2016 etc.

I thought I had narrowed it down to printing calling SplWOW64 and that not exiting. Used the appropriate registry hack recommended by Microsoft on two test machines to no avail.

I am seeing two distinct errors. One is a printing Macro that calls Excel as a background task in order to print multiple worksheets. That one seems to be related to SplWOW64.

The other is that ordinary printing direct from the spreadsheet causes the foreground process to hang on in Apps in Task Manager.

Any Ideas please.

Cheers

Nick

Office document permission issue with domain user?

Hello guys, I have an odd issue here. Not too sure if it's to do with Office/AD or the user profile on a computer.

Basically, on our file share, we have a user, who as from a couple of days ago, has lost access to certain excel files. They can open it, edit it, but cannot save it. When they go to save it, it gives the error of "has the file been moved or deleted" (paraphrased of course). When they go to "Save As", they can't navigate to the folder on the shared drive.

The structure of our folders is, the main share, then a folder for the users' department, and inside there, a folder called Private, which anyone in the security group assigned to that folder, has read, write, and modify access. Files inside that folder inherit permissions from this folder.

The odd thing is, any MS Office files in this folder, they can open, but not save....

Automatically reading pdf files and transferring data into excel

Hi,

I get travel itineraries quite often. Then I need to input the values into a spreadsheet so that the transportation team can organise the pick up. Is there a way to automate this process? Currently, I just open each itinerary and copy the values relevant to me and paste it into Excel.

Would be great if we could automate this process. It will help me reduce some human error :-) Anyone with any experience out there?

booking form with workflow

Hi,

I am having a fleet of cars that people book into when they want to use it. I am using skedda to do that. It's pretty basic. So, I would like to have some workflow for checks and approvals. But I can't seem to do that in Excel Online or Google Sheets.

I would like to have authorised users only access that sheet/system, something that notifies me when someone is booking any car for more than 6hrs. If I reject that booking, that person should be notified. Also, the person booking the vehicle will need visibility of all vehicles availability.

Has anyone got any better recommendations?

Best wishes,

Sathesh

Hi Guys and Gals,

Need a solution for my company, to view all types of documents in a Windows folder in one single pain.

The key bit to all this is it needs to see attachments in emails and allow you to view them without needing to open them in Outlook.

We are currently using the preview pane in Windows Explorer, but this doesn't do the attachments bit.

Looking for something which turns an electronic folder of files into as near as can be to a paper file.

File types it needs to open (at the very least): -

XLS,XLSX,CSV,DOC,DOCX,PDF,MSG

Hope someone can help....

Thanks in advance.....

Hi Spicework Experts,

1 of our user using Outlook2010 Home&Business report that he cannot move mail to subfolder.

After testing, the mail is actually able to copy/move to subfolder, but no effect on Outlook software (nothing changed), but if we inspect from Online Web App (Exchange 2013), the action is actually completed.

I had tried to recreate outlook profile, repaired outlook and change to Outlook2010 Standard, Outlook2013 Standard still the same.

Also tried to use other laptop device link to his mailbox, same result (scary).

Only this user confront this issues, other user is all ok.

hence it might due to something related to this AD User (Mailbox),

hope to get some advice from spicework experts who have confront this issues before, thanks!

Outlook using M365 Outlook online search 'showing only local results'

When I do a search in outlook 2019 against an email account hosted by m365 exchange online, I get a line saying 'search complete.  Showing local results only.

As it turns out, I have the account set for cached mode and save all info (rather than, say 1 month or 1 year). So I guess I am not missing anything in the search.

But if I had it set for the OST to only have the last year of things... how do I get it to do a search on the server?  And does that take much longer? Is it indexed like it is locally?

Can't find a Microsoft flow/app that is sending emails

A user (manager) came to me asking if the email he receives when a certain Excel file is modified in Sharepoint (online) could also be sent to another manager. Sounds easy, right?

I have a few flows that do the exact same thing for another department, but this email isn't being fired by any of them. I pulled up the Power Automate admin center to look at all of the flows/apps in my organization (I'm global admin) and I only see five flows, which doesn't surprise me. Only three of those flows send an email (using 'send mail'), and none of them are configured to send this particular email. I'm at a loss as to where this "hidden" flow could be, and now my security paranoia has me wondering what else could be firing off emails that I'm not aware of.

I'm the solo admin and am pretty new to flows/power apps, but it seems to me that everything...

Good day everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a setting where you can set up a specific time when Outlook starts the Auto-Archive process?

We do no use the Exchange server. Every single Outlook is set up to Auto-Archive every 1-2 days messages older than 2-3 months on users' machines.
I wonder if I can set up a specific time when Auto-Archive happens.

My user has an Outlook rule setup so that emails from a distribution list we have goes to a specified folder. The problem is that any members of that DL who send her an email directly also end up in the specified folder. How do I set up the rule so that only the emails from the DL go to that folder while the individual employee emails go to the inbox directly?

Rule is currently set as follows:
If sent from: distributionlistemail
move to the specified folder: examplefolder

Save As - Office 2010 Home & Business Default Location

Hi All,

I am working with a customer who has a new installation of MSOffice H&B 2019.  In the past SaveAs would just prompt for the new file name and drop the file in the Documents folder.
Now, it seems that when you hit save as it prompts for the folder location before allowing you to put in the new name.
I have checked the option to change the default location C:\Users\%useranem%\Documents by default. But it keeps prompting for the folder.
Any ideas?  RegHack?
Thanks,
Mike

Slow Performance Office Files On Network Drive

Having a strange issue and am running out of ideas. Below is the saga : )

Microsoft Office Documents and possibly small CAD files take a long time to open and save on the network share (Server 2012). Server is on the domain, workstations are in a WORKGROUP (not sure why). Text (.txt.) documents don't seem to be affected. Opening the same office files on the local machine opens up quickly. Created a test .txt file that was larger than one of the Excel files and it still opened much quicker.

This affects multiple machines. Server resources are not even closed to being maxed out/pegged.

It takes about 20-25 seconds to open a document or save it. When opening the file, the splash screen shows it's downloading, then 'processing', then eventually opens the file.

Added the server as a Trusted Location in Excel as a test, no change. Tried saving...

how to copy the contents of a cell while typing to another cell on another sheet

Hello, ifollowed a video to create a searchable drop down validation data list.

Here the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkPoViUhkxU

I have attached the file:

in sheet "2021", when you open the drop down of "F" column you can see the data validation list of sheet"Tabella" column "C" (it is going to grow a lot).

If you write "BIOPSIA" in sheet"Tabella" cell B1, column "G" is filled with all rows containing"BIOPSIA" from column "C"; now values in column "G" is the filtered values you found in sheet"2021" column "F" drop down list.

The problem is that it works only when you put a value in fixed cell B1.

Is it possible to copy what the user writes in sheet"2021" column "F" to sheet"Tabella" cell B1? in real time in Excel 2019?

this filtered drop down list seems so hard to create!

Microsoft Office 2019 Accounts; Asking for Microsoft Account

I purchased a volume license of Microsoft Office 2019 Professional.I was able to install it on the computers I needed and it installed correctly.but recently Office has been asking for a Microsoft Login. So after some investigation, Office was activated with our Windows domain accounts.but this Microsoft Login does not accept the login; it is looking to connect to an account in Microsoft.

This situation is causing problems with MS Outlook. Without this Microsoft login, Outlook won't immediately connect.a "need Password" appears at the bottom of Outlook. the user has to click that and the Microsoft login pops up again.then it is cancelled and then Outlook connects to our exchange server and works correctly.

Should Office 2019 be using a Microsoft login? should it be using our Windows domain account? if so how can i get it to...
