Reoccurring Outlook Needs Password

I have a couple of user who repeatedly have this issue.

Office 365 using Outlook 365 on Windows 10

Outlook will say Needs Password in the bottom right, the password box seems to flash on the screen and disappear, giving them no where to enter the password even if they click on the "Needs Password" message in the bottom right.

To fix they have to delete the credentials from Credential Manager in Control Panel and restart the PC.

Outlook will then allow them to reenter the password.

This seems to reoccur for a few of my users every few weeks.

Anybody know what could causing it or a permanent fix?

Outlook Over VPN

I have a few users who are having difficulties connecting to Exchange over VPN.  It tells them "set of folders are unavailable."  They do have their archive PST on the network, so I've trained them to make sure their drives are mapped before they fire up Outlook and still no dice.

To make matters worse, this only happens to a few users and some of those are intermittent.  All of their setups work just fine every time in the office.

Setup: Office 2013 on Windows 7 connecting to Exchange 2010.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all eyes.

Hello Spiceheads!

I’m trying to track the monthly costs for our leased printers using Excel.My Google Fu has failed me, possibly because I’m not sure what to search for.I’ve read several ways (vlookup, if, and, match, index) to compare columns with lists but haven’t found any examples that require the values from 2 columns to return another value from a 3rd list.I want to have a drop-down list in column A and B (that’s the easy part) and based on those values fill in a value in column C.I have made tables for the list values and per page costs.The scenario is you would select a printer name from the drop-down in column A.In column B you select the type of print (color or black).Based on the printer name and print type selected, column C will populate with the per print cost.

Example:

Select printer “Reception” from drop-down...

New outlook profile not showing all inbox and sent items

Hi all,

Recently I had upgraded one of our customers to a new laptop and set it up blah blah.

I put office on and connected his outlook profile and all seemed well.

He rang me up yesterday to say that none of his sent items are in the sent items folder and he has only a couple of months worth of emails in his inbox.

I've tried deleting and re-adding the profile, no joy.

I don't really want to export his sent items and inbox as its over 14GB and then have to import them into his new laptop.

Any thoughts?

Automatically open Excel file

Hi All,

Is there a way I can get Excel to automatically open a spreadsheet that is stored on a network drive, update the data that is controlled by links into another file, save and close itself.

I know how to get the macro to run so it updates the links, saves and closes the file. But I'm struggling to find a way for Excel to open the file automatically. Ideally I would like to open it every 3 hours during the day without any human intervention.

I have a serious problem that i don't know how to solve.

in our company office 365 has the business essential license so its not supporting desktop apps,so we installed office 2016 pro with product key,now when i try to install Microsoft project from the portal it says you need to uninstall office 2016 pro to install project and the same for Skype for business

please any solution?

Outlook 2016 not retaining messages more than 5 days using IMAP

Using GoDaddy on the back end connected via IMAP.  The user messages are removed from their inbox if left for more than 5 days.  At Outlook and through web mail.  I've reinstalled Outlook, switched computers and changed email password to ensure no other random old device is connecting to email.  All with no luck.

I'm unable to find any settings within GoDaddy web mail access to make changes to retention.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Word Mystery keyboard Shortcuts. Where's the full list?

Is there a full list of keyboard shortcuts for Word anywhere?

I know about this resource

but it doesn't have everything (not even close).

I'm currently changing the layouts of lots of tables so I'm looking for as many keyboard shortcuts for that as I can. There's a whole bunch of 'Office Access' shortcuts not mentioned anywhere but are usually easy to work out. I know Alt+J+L+M merges two cells but I also know Alt+A+M does it too. The thing is, I can't find any references to Alt+A keyboard shortcuts at all. It doesn't correspond to a menu so what does it correspond to and how can I find out what other Alt+A commands are available?

Please note I haven't created any special Macros or reassigned shortcuts in the...


Sharing Contacts with two Exchange Accounts

I'm using Office 2013 on a single PC in a workgroup on Win 10 Pro. I have two web based hosted Exchange email accounts in Outlook for two separate businesses. The 2nd Exchange account was just created and works fine.

In both of my Exchange accounts, my address books are named Contacts. How do I share the contacts of my 1st account with the Contacts in the 2nd account? I've gone into properties and permissions on the 1st Exchange account but can't find a solution.

Outlook 2010 categories on emails disappear completely

Greetings,

I have a minor irritant that Google seems to be unable to assist me with.

We run Outlook 2010 on an Exchange 2016 server and I've got one public folder for one department that they want to use categories extensively on. The problem is, whether it's a built in or custom built category, given a few minutes, the system removes the category from the email in question.

I gave myself access to categorize for that public folder to check. Google searches always seemed to point in the direction of "The Color is just disappearing." But, looking at the emails themselves and trying it myself, I find that after several minutes the whole category vanishes and it is NOT the more common color vanishing problem. I was using the built in generic ones as well, so it's not a matter of custom categories not applying across the exchange server...

xlsx.sb folders

Hi, I'm using Microsoft Office Suite Home & Business for my MacBook Air. The MacBook is currently connected to my company network drives using smb://. I saved an excel or doc file in one of the drives, and I noticed it created a .xlsx.sb folder with no files in it. How do I make sure that these .xlsx.sb folders do not appear again, when I'm saving my excel or doc files?

Skype for Business - Can I use Do Not Disturb but still get phone calls?

Howdy,

We are going to be changing over to Teams but currently have to use S4B for all our actual phone calls.  I want to force everyone who wants to chat with me to use Teams.  I thought I could just set my Skype to DnD and that would block chats (which is does) but it also stops phone calls from coming in.  Is there any way I can block all incoming chat messages in Skype but still allow phone calls to come through?

Outlook 2016 calendar permission Issues

So a few of our users can't book anything on the shared calendars we have, we get the pop up attached above.
We just upgraded everyone from office 2010 to Office 2016 Pro Plus and out of maybe around 500 users only 3 users have this issue (one of them is ironically me).
OWA works fine and office 2010 still works fine but it only happens in outlook 2016. Permissions are all good and we have other users that were upgraded at the same time but they dont have this issue.
I have tried running on cache mode or without cache mode, created new OST, removed profiles and recreated them and nothing seems to work.
Our Microsoft Office and Windows are up to date with the latest updates.
Weirdly if we follow the steps in these pictures attached we can still book an appointment so not really sure whats going on, I would really appreciate if we can find a...

MS Office 2016 on TS session. I must use a Volume License edition. Which one?

I have a brand new W2016 server with MS Office 2016 H&B. Everything was fine until i decided to install RDSH and then boom.

Now, this is our first W2016 server, we have a few 2012, 2007, 2008 and 11 but none of them has this problem. All our TS servers are loaded with Office 2010 and 2007 (we have all licenses installed many years ago). This time i tried something fresh W2016 with Office 2016. I understand this is some sort of licensing feature in MS Office. I believe i have to purchase VL version but i can't figure out which one and how.

I'm not looking for O365 versions, we do have P1. I looking for a standalone version of Office 2016.

NOBODY is mentioning which version is correct. I'm not looking for another reseller or "SPECIALIST" (LoL)

There is a few people mentioned ProPlus - but i can't find if its a correct or right way to do it.

Problem with dependencies for .NET Outlook VSTO COM addin

Hello All

At my wits end with this one and I've crawled through Google for long enough! Hopefully some kind person here can help! :)

We have a custom-built Outlook addin written in VB.NET and it's worked fine and works on everyone's machines. However recently Office 365 became corrupt on a Windows 10 machine so we uninstalled the old office and reinstalled from the O365 portal. All was working fine again apart from this one add-in will not load in Outlook. I've tried resetting Windows 10 (including removing all apps) and reinstalling Office again, and it still doesn't work. I've tried installing other versions of the .NET framework but that doesn't work. Other Outlook COM addins are loading fine.

I've inserted the error message below which seems to indicate that some dependency or file is missing from the system, but I can't find out what...


shared mailbox calendar outlook - 2016 exchange

Hello 

We do run shared mailbox in 2016 exchange as shared calendar mailbox to be accessed by all users. The thing is in shared calendar, there are multiple calendars like eg. Meeting Room, Conference Room ETC.  At this moment we are able to send an invite to person from calendar to access. If we do add shared calendar from - Add calendar- shared calendar, it only opens the primary calendar only. Is any way we can add the secondary calendar ? Yes we can able to send invite for specific calendar by logging into it. Now we dont want to have shared mailbox hooked up to outlook either.

Word not saving options

Using Office365 Word (2019?) and noticed that some options are not being saved when set.

For instance, we were trying to enable the "Always create backup copy" option under Options/Advanced. We enable it and if we close Word and reopen and check, that option is again disabled. We tried other options and some are saved when we change them, others are not.

I've sort of traced it down to those options that would normally live in:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options

I have checked the permissions on that key, and they are identical to all the other Office and Word registry keys, yet Word doesn't seem to be able to write to that key.

I can manually add a new value to that key, like "BackupDuringSave" as REG_DWORD and set to 1, and it works. I can open/close Word and the setting is now enabled and sticks. So...

Hyperlinks in my Excel 2016 cells open with legacy IE-11. I'm running Windows 10 and my default browsing app is Opera. How can I cause Excel to open any url with my default browser instead of IE?

Replace input value by a vlookup

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out following issue:

I have a Product ID which has a product name. I have setup a vlookup formula, which works fine whenever I insert a product id it shows me the correct name.

Here is my issue: I have a Excel DB with a lot of Product IDs. What I want to achieve is via vlookup or any other formula to REPLACE the Product ID with the product name. 

Any help much appreciated. This is getting me insane :)

Outlook 2019 asking for password

Hi all

One of our users is having a problem with outlook 2019 every now and then asking them for their password. 

It's strange as if they don't pop their password in, in the bottom right it says "need password" but if they click on this they don't need to pop their password in, outlook just works fine.

I have tried the following to resolve it:

Putting in the registry key to excludeexplicito365endpoint

rebuilding their profile

removing all windows credentials from credential manager

Removing Office and reinstalling it as well as using the office removal tool not just from the remove programs or apps.

I'm completely lost.

Any help would be great.
